I am desirous of your company tonight,
to sit beside you on the dusty hardwood,
backs against beige stucco or peeling wallpaper,|
shyly, aware of silence and the faint hum
of stars beyond winter’s haze, and I might
say maybe it is spackle, as in where you said
it is sunny here, but meant you could have stayed.
