This abrupt change of season
has released all the pent-
up water of winterlong snow
into the land’s every depression

where it floods the capillaries
that join into arteries and streams
and rivers of pulsing energy,
submerging the world in darkness.

That is how I feel today,
bleeding, emptied, overcome
by muddy water, unable to find
a way to climb to higher ground.

    this is beautiful!

  2. This poem, too, fits with my visit to the heartland. It is both personal and epic. The Illinois River taking homes, washing away years of lives. And the ongoing personal struggle to live, to stay alive, no matter the circumstance.

  3. Whimsy Mimsy says:

    so sad…

wishing you warm unwetted blankets to soothe your cold soul.
