Cosmologies of Infinite Longing

You and I lived happily ever after

in at least one parallel universe.

In countless more, we were separated

by lifelines of time and space.

There are infinite ways to pass

undetected in the orbits of distant stars,

and even more cases where one of us

was never born, was never more

than hydrogen, or merely dark matter.
