The cobalt shadows…

The cobalt shadows of the poet trees stretch in last light, limbs entwining, across the snow to the russet alders that grow to the edge of the beaver pond.

Blue infiltrates the sky, bright and irresistible, unrelentingly beautiful. It creeps across my skin, the opposite of shadow, until a guilty sadness Coats me, a film that sheds water, im- permeable, smothering.
